Although you are right in the heart of Snowdonia and surrounded by fields at Trosgol, you're close to all the services you will need. Click on links below.
The Texaco Petrol Station (Beran Service Station) is a 3 minute drive away (0.75 miles). It has the cheapest petrol in the area and a large Costcutter shop with all the basics including 4 pints of milk for 99p.
There a huge 24-hour Tesco 10 mins drive away (7 miles) on the way in to Bangor. For shopaholics there are many of the big out-of-town shops beyond Tesco - Next, Argos, Comet, Matalan, PC World, Pets at home, T K Maxx, Halfords, Currys, Dunelms and even a drive-through McDonalds.
You will need a car to spend a holiday at Trosgol but if some of your party are coming by train, there's a good rail service to Bangor Station(8 miles). Deiniolen is then a taxi-ride or the 85 bus from Bangor brings you to the centre of the village. We are a 15 minute uphill walk from there. We recommend the Snowdon Sherpa bus services which leave from Llanberis (or the park and ride at Nant Peris to Pen y Pas) as a starting point for the Pyg track or the Miner's track.
We're often asked if there's a pub in walking distance of Trosgol. There is a pub in Deiniolen -the Bull / Y Tarw - which is 10 mins there / 20 mins walk back (long hill) which is fairly basic and authentically Welsh - you won't hear English spoken except when you order drinks. They are friendly but don't wear an England football shirt!
In your cottage you'll find a folder with menus from local pubs and restaurants where we recommend the food. Here are our recommendations.

There are loads of beaches we can recommend - the best are on Anglesey in our view. Dogs are restricted on some but we have full details. If you like the order of a public swimming pool, there are pools at Bangor and Caernarfon (both 8 miles). Pete Norton of Pete's Eats has researched dozens of beaches and we've been given permission to link to their site here.
We have details on local doctor's surgery, veterinary practice, and Ysbyty Gwynedd - North Wales' main hospital at Bangor. These are in the cottages.
We have a folder of tourist information in each cottage and you can also contact the excellent Tourist Information Centre in in Llanberis (telephone 01286 870765), email: llanberis.tic@gwynedd.gov.uk or visit: www.visitsnowdonia.info
We can direct you to Anglican, Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, Pentecostal and New Churches in the area or we'd be delighted if you wanted to join us at Bangor Pentecostal Church. There is a Mosque in Bangor and the nearest Synagogue is Llandudno.
If you have a problem with your car during your stay, then we recommend the world's most helpful garage in Caernarfon. B & K Williams is run by father and son Bryn and Kevin. Phone 01286 675557 www.bandkwilliams.co.uk We buy and service our cars there.
