ACCESS STATEMENT - TROSGOL FACH
Our Policy on Access and Inclusion of Disabled and Older People.
Our intention is to ensure that all our guests, including those with disabilities and older people, experience a warm welcome throughout their stay. We will work hard to make the property accessible to everyone, within the limitations of the site and of the building.
Approach and outside property
Trosgol Fach is approached via a well-surfaced, but fairly steep lane. Parking
is off-road on slate chippings. Access is through
a five-bar gate. The
Trosgol Fach
entrance is to the right and has two staps. The owners, Paul and Christine
Dicken live on site and are available to assist whenever possible.
Access implications for various groups of people
Guests with mobility limitations
Trosgol is a former farm constructed in 1834 on the side of a hill, 312 metres (1023 feet) above sea level on the slopes of Moel Rhiwen. As a result, approaches are steep and the site has a 4 metre difference in height overall. Trosgol Fach presents difficulty for people with limited mobility and would not be accessible to a wheelchair-user, unable to walk a few steps or climb up to three steps. There are no mobility adaptations in the bathroom. There is one step internally.
The garden is partly level and partly on a slightly sloping lawn. All paths are covered with slate chippings.
Guests who are blind or partly-sighted
Visitor information is available in large print/CD/email text on request. Trosgol Fach is well-lit with good colour contrast. Of course, guide dogs and all other assistance dogs are welcome.
Guests with learning disabilities or on the autistic spectrum
Although no special provision is made for these guests, we particularly welcome groups with adults or children with autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD or learning disabilities. Paul and Christine Dicken have extensive experience and are happy to make any changes, such as removing items, to make your stay easier.
Guests with allergies
We allow no smoking on the premises and bedding, pillows and upholstery are made from synthetic materials. We do not use harsh chemical cleaners. Trosgol Fach has laminated or tiled floors throughout; blackout blinds rather than curtains and cotton rugs. We do allow guests with dogs to stay but we will do a deep clean before the arrival of guests with pet allergies if requested.
Our experience
Paul has been a director of a disability charity for 10 years and now runs an access consultancy. Paul and Christine have provided respite care for many years for families with disabled children. We particularly welcome guests with disabilities and will do all we can to make your stay a happy one. Please contact us to discuss any access needs you may have.
